Hi,
I am Mrs. Hargett and I am honored to serve the students and staff at Grover C. Fields Middle School. Please be aware that we are in the midst of flu season and the warm temperatures are bringing early pollen season. Refer to pages 6-7 of your student's handbook for helpful information on how to help us keep our school healthy. With that being duly noted, please keep students home if they are sick. If a student has a fever of 100 degrees or higher, experiencing nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea, severe headaches, have an undiagnosed rash, or red, itchy, watery eyes with drainage; he/she should not come to school until the issue is resolved by not having taken any medication to alter the symptoms for 24 hours. (If a student has a fever of 100.1, vomits, or has diarrhea at 1:00 pm of Tuesday, he/she can not come to school on Wednesday morning). Usually a physician will tell parents that a child with conjunctivitis can return to school after being on the antibiotic eye drops for 24 hours.
Students sent home with head lice must be cleared by the nurse prior to going back into the classrooms. Parents we need your help in checking and reporting your child's status. If you find that your child has been exposed, please notify the school. We want to provide a safe environment for all students and staff.
Healthy students learn better and it's my pleasure to help make that happen!
